Chão dos Louros

The camping area of the "Chão dos Louros" is located in the "Chão dos Louros" Forest Park. This park is located next to the regional road ER 228 that connects the Encumeada to the Rosário in São Vicente. Its name derives from the abundance of laurels - Laurus nobilis in this area.

There are a few fireplaces where you can cook and prepare the famous "espetada" with Laurel sticks as tradition dictates in Madeira. In addition to the fireplaces distributed through the park, you can find a central fireplace with a shelter, ideal for a meeting or socializing around the fire on cold days. There is running water from tap in multiple points of the park. Keep a responsible use and do not waste water...

Terreiros

"Terreiros" area is very well known especially at the time of shearing the sheep. This feast of grooming usually occurs in mid-June. Located just above the "4 estradas", consists of a considerable dimension leisure area. It is equipped with fireplaces and drinking water. It has plenty of huge cedars they will certainly provide you with a good dose of fresh and comforting shade for the hottest days.

The area is also frequented by motorsport lovers campers, especially in the first week of August, when the Madeira Wine Rally takes place.

Chão do Pasto

Chão do Pasto camping area is a flat area next to the regional road 202. On both sides of the road you can set up your camp, but only on the East side you have fireplaces and picnic tables. Located at 1360 m altitude and along the slopes of the mountains, is a subject to some fog zone. In the Winter periods a small pond is created due to the rain.

Ribeiro Frio

"Ribeiro Frio" forest Park is located in a deep, damp valley surrounded by mountains on the north coast of Madeira Island in Santana. This is an area of high natural beauty, located in the center of Laurel, here you'll find many examples of emblematic species of wood, such as: the Til, the Vinhático, Loureiro and the Barbusano.

Next to the camping area you can visit the famous Cold Brook trout ponds. Across the road you are walking by a mini-Laurel, full of identified specimens where you can cultivate your knowledge of the species of Laurissilva.

Chão das Feiteiras

"Chão das Feiteiras" is the only plateau in Machico. It's a very green area surrounded by cedars that offer cool shade in summer. Situated just North of Poiso to about 1200m altitude, the nights are often cold, even in summer. The area is close to sheep pastures, so you might be surprised by one of them. The area has fireplaces, picnic tables and drinking water.
